Drama
Each year our TY students have the option of competing in the National Transition Year Drama Festival in the Briery Gap Macroom. Participation in the Drama festival encourages students to develop an appreciation for the performing arts while they discover their own individual creative gifts and strengths. They have an opportunity to be adventurous in all aspects and disciplines of drama and stage performance, i.e. organising, acting, lighting, set design, costuming, make-up and most of all, team work.
In keeping with the philosophy of TY and Secondary School programming these festivals are a learning-led rather than exam-driven venture.
Last year we won second prize with our portrayal of “Love and Information” by Carol Churchill. Caoimhe Mulcahy a past pupil of Coláiste Muire and a recent graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting mentors our students.
We have yet to confirm our entries for 2016/17/
