Fair Trade

Coláiste Muire is a Fair Trade school. Each year prior to Christmas the Fair Trade shop is open at lunchtime and run by Transition Year students. The local Fair Trade representative Ms. Mairead Sheedy is a regular visitor to our school.

In keeping with the motto “Fair Trade guarantees a better deal for Third World producers” students are encouraged to think of the less well off in the world and to do something practical to help.

Also during Fair Trade fortnight in February/March we have a Fair Trade Day and raise awareness by
visiting First Year classes.
